The Keyword Gap tool is useful: it shows you which keywords your competitors rank for that you don't. That's a ready-made content roadmap without having to think through strategy yourself.

Site Audit

Semrush's crawler scans your website for 140+ technical and on-page issues, such as broken links, slow load times, missing meta tags, duplicate content, and mobile problems. It gives you a site health score and a prioritized list of issues to fix.

The audit touches on many aspects and the prioritization is helpful; it tells you what matters most rather than dumping everything on you at once.

The starter SEO plan doesn't include JavaScript rendering. If your site runs on React, Angular, or heavy JavaScript frameworks, the crawler can't see behind the scripts properly. You might get a clean health score when the site actually has issues hiding in the JS layer. For serious technical audits, you need at least the Pro+ plan

Rank Tracking

AI Visibility Tracking

Semrush recently launched an AI visibility toolkit that tracks how your brand appears in AI-generated answers (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Gemini). It monitors brand mentions, citation rates, sentiment, and share of voice across these platforms.
